Chemical Technology Program Course Descriptions
KIM 101 - General Chemistry I
This course covers the fundamental principles of chemistry. Topics include atomic and molecular structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, gases, liquids, solids, and solutions. The aim is to provide students with an introduction to chemistry and a solid understanding of its basic concepts and principles.
KIM 103 - Analytical Chemistry I
This course introduces the fundamental methods of analytical chemistry, including solution equilibria, acid-base theories, titration techniques, gravimetric analysis, and an introduction to basic instrumental methods. It aims to develop students’ skills in chemical analysis.
KIM 105 - Chemistry Measurement and Laboratory Techniques
This course covers laboratory safety, the use of glassware and instruments, weighing and measuring techniques, solution preparation, and basic experimental practices. Students gain competence in performing accurate and safe measurements in the laboratory environment.
BPR 101 - Mathematics
The course includes functions, limits, derivatives, integrals, logarithmic and exponential functions, as well as fundamental linear algebra topics. Emphasis is placed on the application of mathematics in chemistry and engineering.
GS 109 - Occupational Health and Safety
The course introduces health and safety principles in the workplace, risk factors, occupational accidents, and protection methods. Students develop a culture of workplace safety and learn to recognize occupational hazards.
KIM 107 - Physics I
This course covers the fundamentals of classical mechanics, including force, motion, energy, momentum, work, simple machines, and wave motion. Students learn to understand physical phenomena through mathematical foundations.
ING 111 - General English I
This course aims to provide basic English communication skills. It includes grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking activities.
TKL 111 - Turkish Language I
The course focuses on the structure and rules of the Turkish language, grammar, orthography, and punctuation. It develops students’ written and oral communication skills.
KIM 102 - General Chemistry II
As a continuation of General Chemistry I, this course covers chemical thermodynamics, equilibrium, kinetics, electrochemistry, and solubility. Laboratory practices reinforce theoretical knowledge.
KIM 104 - Organic Chemistry I
This course covers the classification of organic compounds, the structure of hydrocarbons, isomerism, and the basic properties of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, and aromatic compounds. Students gain an introduction to organic chemistry and fundamental bonding structures.
KIM 100 - Compulsory Internship
This course requires students to apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in real work environments. It provides professional experience in industrial facilities or laboratories.
KIM 106 - Physics II
This course covers electricity, magnetism, optics, and an introduction to modern physics. Students gain a deeper understanding of advanced physical phenomena.
ING 112 - General English II
A continuation of General English I, this course aims to further develop students’ academic and professional English skills.
TKL 112 - Turkish Language II
This course covers types of expression in Turkish, written composition techniques, and literary text analysis. It improves students’ academic writing skills.
KIM 201 - Analytical Chemistry II
This course focuses on instrumental analysis methods. Topics include spectroscopy, chromatography, electrochemical analysis, and modern measurement techniques. Laboratory practices provide students with hands-on experience in using analytical instruments.
KIM 203 - Organic Chemistry II
This course focuses on organic functional groups (alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and derivatives). Reaction mechanisms and examples of organic synthesis are also included.
KIM 205 - Physical Chemistry
This course covers the laws of thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, colligative properties of solutions, surface phenomena, and phase equilibria. Students gain an understanding of the physical principles underlying chemistry.
KIM 207 - Chemical Process Applications
The course introduces the fundamental processes used in the chemical industry, production methods, reactor design, and scale-up techniques. It provides students with industry-oriented practical knowledge.
KIM 209 - Materials Science and Technology
This course covers the structure, properties, and applications of metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, and nanomaterials. Students learn about the factors that determine the performance of materials.
HIST 211 - Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Reforms I
This course examines the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, Atatürk’s ideas, the War of Independence, and the reforms that shaped modern Turkey.
KIM 202 - Industrial Chemistry
This course focuses on raw materials used in the chemical industry, production methods, and industrial chemical processes. Examples from petrochemicals, fertilizers, dyes, detergents, and polymer industries are included.
KIM 204 - Process Control and Automation

HIST 212 - Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Reforms II
